Cumulus Wines own and manage one of the biggest single vineyards in New South Wales, so big that it stretches from the Orange wine region all the way into the Central Ranges. Because of this they can source grapes from a variety of different sub-regions, terroirs, and climates, making the wines that come out of the area multifaceted and wide ranging.
The 2015 Climbing Merlot is a high altitude, cool climate merlot that balances sweet fruit flavours and savoury herbs. Quintessentially Australian, it is full of fruit that has softened over time and has a great, full body.
The palate has a firm presence but overall this is an easy drinking, soft red with a slow emergence of the flavours.
