Muddy Water was born almost a quarter century ago when viticulture pioneers Jane and Michael East recognised the potential for grape growing in the Waipara Valley.
The first wines released in 1996 quickly established Muddy Water Estate as one of the first real high quality producers in the area, and much of our wine today is still being made from those original vines.
No additions, just organic grapes, fermented wild on their skins, then blended and bottled clean as a whistle. Certified organic.
A savoury wine, light copper in colour with abundant aromas of osmanthus, samphire and spice. A crisp, bright palate with gentle chalky tannins and a very long backbone of acidity.
An outstanding example of skin contact wine from NZ - orange wine of depth, clarity and complexity.
