Tomintoul (meaning gentle dram) Distillery was built in Speyside, Scotland in 1965.
Tomintoul's 'With a Peaty Tang' is made just twice a year at the distillery, using barley which has been dried with peat smoke.
The aroma is soft and sweetly smoked, with a heathery and herbacious quality. The unmistakable flavour of peated malt, slightly biscuity and nutty with a classic Speyside fruity pear sweetness comes through. A long finish, with mouth-drying smoke notes that linger.
One of the consistently good non-Islay peated malts around.
Great value, as always with this distillery.
